The Oxford Christmas Lights Bus has spread festive cheer across Oxfordshire this December with three sparkling tours.

Adorned with flashing Christmas lights and playing popular festive hits, the open-topped City Sightseeing Oxford bus delighted crowds at each stop.

A collaboration between Oxford Bus Company, Thames Travel, City Sightseeing Oxford, and Get Radio, the tours visited locations chosen by public vote.

Adding to the festive atmosphere, Oxford Bus Company ‘elves’ handed out sweets at various stops while the Grimsdyke Brass Band performed on-board, filling the air with the joyous sounds of Christmas.

The tours ran from 4.00pm to 8.00pm on 07, 14, and 21 December.

Each route was unique: the first included Headington, Thame, and Chalgrove; the second took in Kennington, Abingdon, Didcot, and Wallingford; and the third stopped at Littlemore, Oxford city centre, and Wolvercote.

Luke Marion, Oxford Bus Company Managing Director, said: “We had an overwhelming response to the Oxford Christmas Lights Bus, with over 2,500 people voting for it to visit their local area and many more coming out to see it in action. It was wonderful to see so many people out on the tours.

“It’s been a privilege for us to make a difference and help spread some joy at this time of year in some of the communities we serve. My thanks to everyone who took part and helped to make each tour such a special occasion.”

This year’s tour builds on the overwhelming success of previous Christmas Lights Bus tours, an initiative that began during the COVID-19 pandemic as a way to bring the community together despite social distancing restrictions.
