Oxfordshire primary admissions see high success rate in first-choice offers

More than nine out of ten Oxfordshire children with applications to start reception year in primary schools across the county have been offered admissions at their first-choice school for the next school year.

In total, 94.04 per cent of children in Oxfordshire have received a first preference offer, and over 99 per cent have been offered a school listed as a preference. This year’s national figures will be published later in the year.

Lisa Lyons, Director of Children Services for Oxfordshire County Council, said: “We aim to give all children the best start in life, and educational and learning opportunities are fundamental to this.

“I’m therefore delighted that we have been able to offer the majority of applicants their first choice of school.”

Some families are not offered their first preference where applications for particular schools exceed available spaces.

Anyone who has yet to apply for a reception place for their child in school should email the council on admissions.schools@oxfordshire.gov.uk or telephone 01865 519800 as soon as possible.
