Pulhams has announced a recruitment day for aspiring bus drivers, following a significant wage increase that positions its drivers among the highest paid in the local area.
The event will take place at the Leonardo Hotel in Cheltenham from 10.00am to 3.00pm on Sunday 26 April, offering prospective candidates the opportunity to meet the team, learn more about available roles and fast-track their applications.
The recruitment drive comes after new pay rates were introduced at the start of April, aimed at attracting drivers for the company’s school and college transport services.
Under the revised structure, drivers can earn £115 per day for college duties and £100 per day for school runs. Weekend and weekday hourly rates have also increased, with Sunday pay set at £18.50 per hour, Saturday at £17 per hour and weekday rates rising to £15.80 per hour.
Luke Marion, Managing Director of Pulhams, said the recruitment day represents an important opportunity for both the company and potential employees.
“Our upcoming recruitment day provides an excellent opportunity for candidates to meet the team, ask questions and fast-track their application process.
“We have recently invested more than £8 million into 15 new electric buses and depot upgrades, providing prospective drivers the opportunity to get behind the wheel of these brand new electric vehicles.
“Combined with an above inflation rate increase for wages, which has made our drivers the highest paid in the area, it marks an exciting time of growth for Pulhams.
“We have been operating Cirencester College’s ‘home to college’ service since September and there are opportunities within this contract for drivers to benefit from our new enhanced college rates.
“While we’re looking for a range of applicants during our upcoming recruitment day, we expect that the college rate will be particularly attractive to existing PCV licence holders.”
Candidates attending the recruitment day will be able to complete a full assessment on site. Applicants are advised to bring proof of eligibility to work in the UK, along with their current photocard driving licence and a valid DVLA code.
The recruitment campaign follows a wider £8.17 million investment in Pulhams’ operations, including the introduction of 15 electric buses and upgrades to its Golden Valley depot in Cheltenham. Improvements include new charging points, enhanced driver facilities and upgraded infrastructure.
