The Folly Restaurant in Oxford has announced the return of its popular Private Dining Domes for the winter season, bringing back one of the city’s most distinctive riverside dining experiences.

Situated beside Folly Bridge in the heart of Oxford, The Folly is a riverside restaurant known for its seasonal menus, relaxed elegance and unique waterside setting. The restaurant offers both indoor dining and outdoor river-level seating throughout the year and is also home to Oxford River Cruises’ dining and sightseeing departures.

Set beside the River Thames with historic Folly Bridge as a backdrop, the domes provide a secluded and beautifully lit space for guests to enjoy the comfort of indoor dining while remaining immersed in the riverbank atmosphere. Fully heated, they offer a cosy retreat for long lunches, afternoon tea and intimate evening dining during the colder months.

“There’s something very special about the river in winter—still, reflective, and full of character,” said Giles Dobson, owner of The Folly. “The domes allow guests to enjoy that riverside atmosphere without stepping away from warmth and comfort. They’ve become part of our identity at this time of year and it’s a pleasure to bring them back again.”

The domes are designed for small gatherings, romantic dinners and private celebrations, combining scenery, privacy and a sense of occasion. With limited availability and strong seasonal demand, early booking is recommended.

Reservations are now open on The Folly website or directly through the restaurant.
