Zizzi is introducing an unusual new pizza topping this spring with the launch of its Quattro Pomodoro Candy Floss Pizza, combining classic Italian tomato flavours with a sweet theatrical finish.
Available in restaurants across the UK, including Oxford, from 01 April, the new dish features the brand’s traditional pomodoro base made with Italian tomatoes and is topped with a unique tomato-infused candy floss placed onto the pizza just before serving.
As the candy floss melts, it creates a glossy tomato glaze designed to intensify the sweetness of the tomato base while adding a new layer of flavour and presentation.
The concept builds on the natural sweetness of sun-ripened Italian tomatoes, with the topping designed to turn a familiar ingredient into a more playful dining experience.
According to Corrine Prior, the dish was developed to explore a different side of Italian ingredients while keeping flavour central.
She said:
“This is about celebrating Italian tomatoes in a completely new way. Their natural sweetness makes them incredibly versatile, and we wanted to showcase that by turning them into something playful, while still rooted in flavour.”
“As the candy floss melts into a glaze, it intensifies the tomato base and adds a new dimension to the pizza, it’s familiar, but also something new and different. We are imagining this to divide customers, with some loving this bold new pizza and others opting for a classic option.”
Zizzi says the pizza is part of its wider spring menu and aims to deliver both flavour and visual impact, continuing the brand’s focus on inventive menu additions.
The dish will be available nationwide, with bookings and menu details accessible through the restaurant’s website and app.
Zizzi has branches in Oxford and Henley-on-Thanmes, and further afield in High Wycombe, Aylesbury, Newbury, Reading and Milton Keynes.
