The Nut Tree Inn, an Oxfordshire gem which has held a Michelin Star since 2008, has reopened its doors after a summer break – ready to welcome guests back for an unforgettable countryside pub experience that pairs quintessential British English charm with world-class cuisine.

Just a short drive from Bicester Village, Oxford and Soho Farmhouse, The Nut Tree Inn offers an elevated escape for those seeking exceptional food in the authentic setting of a traditional English pub.

Owners Mike and Imogen North live next door with their family in a beautiful, thatched cottage in the same style as the pub. Mike helms the kitchen while Imogen leads the warm, attentive front-of-house team, ensuring every guest feels like part of the family.

The Nut Tree Inn is a true pub at heart, and its Michelin Star comes from an unwavering commitment to flavour, provenance and craft. Its ever-evolving seasonal tasting menu, served exclusively on Fridays and Saturdays – and available throughout the week with its a la carte menu of pub classics – is crafted from premium ingredients, including herbs and vegetables grown in the pub’s own garden.

The team bakes five varieties of fresh bread daily and makes homemade sorbet every day, adding to the sense of honest, thoughtful indulgence. The tasting menu is a creative celebration of seasonal ingredients, beautiful presentation and generous portions.

Guests can also enjoy a hearty a la carte offering, with classic dishes done exceptionally well – like Fish & Chips with fresh fish from Flying Fish, and Steak & Chips with peppercorn sauce, featuring onglet steak from Aubrey Allen.

As with all good British pubs, Nut Tree Inn is also famed for its delicious Sunday lunch, boasting a traditional Roast Fillet of Beef – served medium rare with Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, creamed spinach, red wine & beef fat gravy; Confit of Creedy Carver Duck served with an orange and five spice sauce and a delicious Jerusalem Artichoke Risotto with pickled trompettes and gran kinara.

Guests can choose from a variety of spaces to suit every mood, whether settling into the 36-seat main dining room with its vaulted ceiling, hosting an intimate gathering in the private dining room for up to 18 guests, or hiring the space for special celebrations.

The bar, which seats 14, is perfect for a relaxed drink or bar bite, while the garden, with space for up to 80, invites guests to dine alfresco surrounded by lush greenery. Dogs are welcome in the bar and garden areas – they are not permitted in any dining areas indoors except for service or assistance dogs.

The Nut Tree Inn’s huge, modern kitchen is matched by its inviting interiors, where colourful paintings of Oxford and local scenes – painted by a loyal customer – adorn the walls. At the heart of the dining room, the pub’s original sign proudly celebrates its rich heritage. To complement the exceptional food, The Nut Tree Inn also boasts a Notable Wine List Award from the AA.
