Namaste Village, the fast-growing vegetarian Indian restaurant group, has opened a new site in Oxford, marking its sixth location nationwide. Situated opposite The Malmaison in the Oxford Castle Quarter development, the restaurant brings an all-vegetarian and vegan menu rooted in authentic flavours from across India.

Founded in Norwich in 2016 by Mr and Mrs Jetani, Namaste Village has since expanded to Twickenham, Southend-on-Sea, Cambridge, and OmNom in Islington. With Oxford now added to the list, the group has further openings planned for 2025 and beyond.

The menu celebrates India’s diverse culinary traditions, offering everything from Mumbai street food to South Indian dosas and rich North Indian curries.

Signature dishes include Chick’n Jalfrezi made with plant-based chicken, Paneer Angara cooked in a fiery tandoor sauce, and their renowned Black House Daal, slow-cooked for 24 hours.

Lighter options include Mumbai-style samosas, crispy Dahi Puri, and Indo-Chinese cauliflower fritters in chilli sauce.

Drinks also play a starring role, with cocktails inspired by Indian flavours such as tamarind, chilli, and cardamom. Highlights include the Holi-Tini, a colourful gin-based cocktail, and the Kaffir Negroni, an autumnal twist on the Italian classic.

Traditional mango lassi, masala chai, and Indian-style Cobra beer also feature, alongside wines from sustainable vineyards.

True to its values, Namaste Village continues its charitable initiative, Dosa on the Wall, in Oxford. For every £5 donation, matched by the restaurant, a free meal is made available to someone in need—signalled by a sticker on the restaurant’s window.

Mr and Mrs Jetani said:

“Bringing Namaste Village to Oxford is a dream come true. As passionate advocates of a vegetarian and vegan lifestyle, we’re honoured to join the city’s food scene and showcase how vibrant plant-based Indian cuisine can be. We also hope to soon bring our Namaste Cookery School to Oxford.”

Namaste Village promises not only an authentic Indian dining experience, but also a warm welcome that reflects the cultural richness and generosity of Indian hospitality.

The Oxford restaurant is closed on Monday and opened on Tuesday to Sunday from noon to 9.00pm.
