In a significant recognition of her creative exploration of still life, artist Aliki Braine will have two works from her acclaimed ‘flower works’ series temporarily housed at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford.
The pieces will be displayed in the Daisy Linda Ward Still Life Gallery from 11 June 2025 through August 2026, where they will appear in dialogue with historic still-life paintings from the museum’s collection.
This curatorial placement marks an important acknowledgement of Braine’s distinctive voice in the field.
Her practice, which reinterprets the legacy of Western still life through a bold and contemporary photographic lens, offers a striking contrast and complement to traditional depictions within the genre.

In an event scheduled for 2.00pm on Saturday, 25 October this year, Aliki Braine will be in conversation with An Van Camp, the Christopher Brown Curator of Northern European Art, about the works which have inspired Aliki’s practice in the Ashmolean’s collection.
The talk will take place in the Daisy Linda Ward Gallery at the Ashmolean as part of the Photo Oxford Festival.
A separate exhibition of new works by Aliki Braine will also be presented in Oxford during the Photo Oxford Festival this October, with full details forthcoming.
Meanwhile, her current solo exhibition, which includes additional pieces from her ‘Twelve Months of the Year…’ series, is on view at Worton Kitchen Garden in Oxfordshire until 27 July 2025.
Born in Paris in 1976, Aliki Braine holds an MFA from The Ruskin School of Fine Art, University of Oxford, an MA from The Slade School of Fine Art, London, and an MA in 17th-century painting from The Courtauld Institute of Art, where she was awarded distinction.
