Celebrate the flavours of Shanghai at two ‘Dream of Shanghai’ supper clubs with acclaimed Chef Jason Li at Shan Shui in Bicester Village.
On 02 and 09 October, renowned restaurateur Ellen Chew will be hosting an exclusive two-day ‘Dream of Shanghai’ supper club with special guest Chef Jason Li at Shan Shui, her restaurant inspired by the glamour of 1920s Shanghai. Shan Shui is located in the heart of the luxury open-air shopping destination Bicester Village.
Guest Chef Jason Li – renowned in the UK as an ambassador of Shanghainese food and culture – will be sizzling his way into the kitchen to create platefuls of culinary delights during this exclusive two-day supper club. Jason will be plating up a host of delicious, mouth-watering dishes, including Three-Day Dry-Aged Canton Roast Duck, Dream of Shanghai Spring Onion Pancake and the Deep-Fried Soft Shell Crabs with Crab Roe Infused Jasmine Rice topped with Gold Leaves.
Jason, who works in a five-star hotel by day, curates these exclusive under-the-radar supper clubs by night. He has previously worked at Hakkasan and several other top-tier London establishments such as Min Jiang at the Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington and The Dorchester on Park Lane.
For almost two decades, Jason has honed his craft, creating menus for private dinners and gained a loyal following for his supper clubs. His love for cooking started at a young age when he would help his mother in the kitchen as she hosted private dinners for celebrities, including Jackie Chan and Sir David Tang.
“I am very excited to be collaborating with Shan Shui at Bicester Village to create a special supper club, especially because I have the opportunity to share my Shanghai style of cooking and offer all those hungry guests a taste of some of the seasonal specialities such as the deep-fried soft shell crabs, a delicacy during the Mid-Autumn Festival,” said Jason.
Founder and Director of Shan Shui restaurant, Ellen Chew, said, “We’ve been fans of Chef Jason’s food for many years. It’s truly an honour to showcase the wonderful flavours of true Shanghainese cooking to foodies in the UK.”
The inspiration for Shan Shui came from 1920s Shanghai, which in its heyday, was the place to be for art, architecture, dance halls and glitzy restaurants. Shan Shui offers an experience reminiscent of Old Shanghai, where female celebrities had poise and impeccable fashion sense.
The ‘Dream of Shanghai’ Supper Club will be partnering with ZWILLING, which will showcase its exquisite range of kitchen and dinnerware, which guests will be able to purchase.
Shan Shui will also be offering 2 lucky attendees the chance to win a bottle of Remy Martin XO.
‘Dream of Shanghai’ Supper Club at Shan Shui, Bicester Village, costs £49pp, excluding drinks. Visit http://shanshuisupperclub.eventbrite.com/ to make a reservation. Places are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
