Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, A Belmond Hotel in Oxfordshire, has announced a landmark redevelopment that will see the pioneering property temporarily close its doors in January 2026, before reopening in summer 2027.

Founded in 1984 by Raymond Blanc OBE, Le Manoir is celebrated worldwide for its garden-led gastronomy and has held two Michelin stars every year since opening. The redevelopment aims to strengthen its position as one of Britain’s leading gastronomic destinations, blending heritage, sustainability, and modern luxury.

The project will enhance guest accommodation, reimagine the hotel’s gardens, and elevate the dining experience, all while remaining true to Le Manoir’s philosophy of “garden gastronomy.” The transformation reaffirms Belmond’s commitment to preserving cultural heritage while adapting to the evolving needs of modern hospitality.

Reflecting on the next chapter, Raymond Blanc said:

“Le Manoir has been the canvas of my life’s work, a sanctuary where passion, excellence, and beauty have come to life every single day for over four decades. Together with my extraordinary team, we have built something truly timeless.

“The redevelopment will allow Le Manoir to evolve for the future, to meet the needs of the modern guest while staying true to its soul and values. It is not simply a renovation, but a reinvestment in sustainability, in creativity, and in the spirit of excellence that has defined us.”

Blanc will transition to the role of Lifetime Ambassador, ensuring his vision continues to guide the hotel. Over 41 years, Le Manoir has nurtured a generation of chefs and hospitality professionals, including Marco Pierre White, Michael Caines, Ollie Dabbous, Luke Selby and Eric Chavot, many of whom have gone on to earn international acclaim.

Guests are invited to join Blanc and his team for a final season of celebrations before the temporary closure, offering the chance to relive cherished moments or create new ones within the storied manor house.

Belmond’s investment follows other major rejuvenation projects across its global portfolio, including properties in Florence, Portofino, and Riviera Maya. For Oxfordshire, the redevelopment of Le Manoir signals not only a preservation of its remarkable legacy but also a bold step into the future of sustainable, world-class hospitality.
