Shoryu Ramen is bringing an authentic taste of Japanese breakfast menu to the Oxford morning crowd with the launch of its new Japanese breakfast menu at its Westgate location, which launched on 10 June.
Created by Executive Chef Kanji Furukawa from Fukuoka, the breakfast menu presents a bold and comforting take on traditional Japanese morning dishes with a modern twist. Highlights include the Smashed Avocado Shokupan, combining creamy avocado, Japanese milk bread, soy-marinated nitamago egg, nori, and furikake.
The star of the show – a range of viral Japanese Sandos made with thick-cut, squishy soft bread and fillings such as traditional Tamago Egg Mayo, crispy Chicken Katsu, and Char Siu BBQ Pork with gochujang mayo never disappoint.
Also available is traditional Salmon & Green Tea Ochazuke, where warm sencha is poured over seasoned rice with grilled salmon, or the Chicken Karaage Waffle, pairing soy-marinated Japanese fried chicken with a fluffy waffle and maple syrup.
Finally, for those with a sweet tooth, dishes like Matcha & Kinako French Toast and the indulgent Matcha Rollcake or Matcha Crepe Cake offer a refined Japanese twist on breakfast classics.
To complement the food, Shoryu offers an inspired drinks selection including traditional teas from Kyushu, Ueshima Japanese coffee, fruit smoothies, and original creations such as their Matcha Latte, Black Sesame Latte, and Strawberry Matcha Latte. For a livelier start to the day, there’s also their Melon Soda Float – a Japanese icon, and a perfect way to start the day.
Breakfast will be served daily from 9.00am to 11.00am at Shoryu Oxford (134 The Westgate, Queen Street, Oxford OX1 1PB) from 10 June. The launch is bringing a rare opportunity to experience a true Japanese breakfast in the heart of Oxford, offering locals and visitors an exciting alternative to the typical morning fare.
