The Lamb Inn, a 15th-century pub nestled in the heart of Little Milton, has introduced a new Prix Fixe lunch menu just in time for summer, available every Wednesday to Friday.
Just ten miles southeast of Oxford, this acclaimed village inn continues to evolve under owner Ben Moss and Head Chef Nat Berney, whose refined, seasonal cooking has earned the pub two AA Rosettes and the title of Best Upcoming Gastropub in Oxfordshire 2024 (LuxLife Magazine).
Curated by Michelin-trained chef Nat Berney, previously of Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, the new menu showcases elegant, flavour-forward food rooted in outstanding British ingredients. Priced at £28 for two courses or £34 for three, the menu begins with an amuse-bouche of heritage tomato essence with basil oil – a delicate, aromatic nod to the season that sets the tone for the dishes to follow.
Highlights from the menu include a vibrant Spring Pea and English Mint Soup and Pork Belly Skewer, glazed with Char Sui, served with Miso Mayonnaise.
For mains, there is Wild Garlic Orzo, Spring Vegetables and House Garden Leaves; Day Boat Red Mullet, Marinated Beef Tomatoes, Saffron Mayonnaise, Garlic Croutons and silky Bouillabaisse; and a 32-Day Aged Lamb Rump, Grilled Gem Lettuce, Pickled Shallots, Olive Crumb, Greek Yoghurt, Lamb Jus.
To finish, guests can choose between Affogato, Madagascan Vanilla Ice Cream and Espresso, or a delicate Vanilla Panacotta, with Poached Rhubarb and Ginger Crumb. To complement the food, the Lamb Inn serve an extensive selection of ales, locally sourced where possible, alongside a carefully curated wine list.
The Lamb Inn works closely with a trusted network of local British producers, including The Calnan Brothers butchers in Watlington, DBF Banbury for fresh vegetables, Cornish seafood specialists Flying Fish, and Somerset’s Longman’s for award-winning British cheeses. This commitment to quality ingredients underpins every dish on the menu.
Since taking over in 2022, Ben Moss has overseen a sensitive refurbishment of The Lamb, preserving its 15th-century charm – with low oak-beamed ceilings, exposed stone walls and traditional furniture, all arranged around a roaring fire in winter and a lush beer garden in summer – while evolving it into a modern destination for food lovers.
The Prix Fixe menu is the latest chapter in The Lamb’s ongoing evolution, cementing its place as both a cherished village pub and a destination for those seeking outstanding British food in a quintessential countryside setting.
