Room 1 – aptly known as ‘The Room With The View’ – at the Old Bank Hotel, has been awarded The Good Hotel Guide’s ‘Editor’s Choice’ 2022 award in its ‘rooms with a view’ category. The news comes almost three years to the day when the Old Bank Hotel’s Room 1 was first launched in September 2018.
Situated on top of the collection’s five-star Old Bank Hotel, on Oxford’s famous high-street, the one-of-a-kind room offers guests an extraordinary experience and an unrivalled view that must be seen to be believed.
From inside the room, guests can marvel at the breath-taking beauty and splendour of Oxford’s famous ‘dreaming spires’ through its floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors, from their handmade super-king bed and wrap around sofa.
As guests move out onto the private terrace, panoramic views of Oxford are revealed to show the Radcliffe Camera and the Bodleian Library’s academic reading rooms beyond the spire, All Souls College to the right and the twin towers of Hawksmoor’s Quadrangle highlighting the skyline.
The room features a handmade super king bed, private terrace and cocktail making station – all hand-selected to ensure guests have the truly magnificent break they deserve, putting the room at the literal height of considered luxury.
First opened in 1998, the five-star Old Bank Hotel – part of The Oxford Collection – is situated in a historic Grade-II listed building on Oxford’s High Street and offers unrivalled views of the city and its famous landmarks.
Following an extensive refurbishment in 2018, the hotel has 43 luxury bedrooms and is a breath-taking statement in design, housing an extensive collection of modern art.
