Families will be able to step into the world of We’re Going on a Bear Hunt this spring as a new interactive sensory trail opens at Cliveden.
Running from Saturday 09 May to Sunday 05 July 2026, the outdoor trail at the Buckinghamshire estate invites visitors to follow the famous journey from the much-loved children’s story and award-winning animation.
Inspired by the classic tale by Michael Rosen, the trail features a series of immersive installations designed to recreate the family’s adventure in search of the bear.
Visitors can collect a trail booklet before setting off through different themed areas, including swishy swashy grass, thick oozy mud, swirling whirling snowstorms and a cave where the bear may be hiding.
Along the route, QR codes can be scanned to unlock augmented reality filters, adding another interactive element to the experience and encouraging families to capture photos during the visit.
The trail is designed for all ages and aims to bring the story’s themes of adventure, perseverance and nature to life in an outdoor setting.
Set above the River Thames, Cliveden’s extensive gardens and woodland walks provide the backdrop for the activity, with formal gardens, secluded glades and tree-lined avenues available to explore during the visit.
National Trust has developed the trail in partnership with Walker Productions and Lupus Films, the team behind the animated adaptation of the story.
First published by Walker Books, We’re Going on a Bear Hunt has sold more than 14 million copies worldwide in 42 languages over the past 30 years.
Michael Rosen’s reading of the story has also attracted more than 20 million views online.
The trail is free with normal admission to Cliveden.
