Westgate Oxford has announced a packed programme of free family-friendly activities on Leiden Square this half term, offering everything from imaginative treasure trails to creative workshops and magical story sessions.

At the heart of the celebrations is the centre’s Alice in Wonderland-themed Hatter’s Hunt trail, created in partnership with The Story Museum.

Designed to delight visitors of all ages, the interactive experience invites families to follow a series of clues, riddles and surprises as they search for five plaques hidden throughout the centre.

To take part, guests can collect a free trail map from the Hatter’s Hunt kiosk. Once completed, families can return their map to a member of the Guest Experience team to receive a prize, with books and other treats up for grabs.

Creativity continues throughout the week with the return of the popular Crafting Club, running from Monday 16 to Friday 20 February between 11.00am and 5.00pm. Visitors can enjoy a range of Alice in Wonderland-inspired activities, including mask decorating and making bookmarks and coasters.

In partnership with Westgate Oxford’s Library, the centre will also host Story Time sessions at 1.00pm on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, alongside Rhyme Time sessions at 11.00am on Tuesday and Thursday, offering younger visitors the chance to enjoy tales and songs in a welcoming setting.

Families can also explore the ‘ART and PLAY’ installation, an interactive 3D environment filled with colourful cubes, archways and smooth slides. The space is designed to spark imagination and encourage visitors of all ages to play, rest and connect.

To round off the day, guests can make the most of Westgate Oxford’s extensive dining and leisure offer. Dirty Bones is currently running an exclusive ‘Kids Eat Free’ promotion until 16 March, while restaurants including Mowgli and Victors provide dedicated children’s menus.

For more casual options, Westgate Social offers a selection of grab-and-go outlets such as Slice & Dice and Benito’s.

Beyond dining, families can enjoy a range of entertainment experiences, from the latest releases at Curzon Cinema to Escape Hunt, Junkyard Golf and Sixes Social Cricket.

Clare Martin, Acting Centre Director at Westgate Oxford, commented: “We know how difficult it is to keep the little ones entertained during the school holidays, especially considering the unpredictable British weather, so we’re thrilled to be offering a full programme of free, family-friendly activities throughout the week.

“Our crafting club is always well received, and we’ve planned a selection of Alice in Wonderland-themed sessions this half term to complement our Hatter’s Hunt trail, allowing attendees to immerse themselves in a world of riddles and creativity.”

Westgate Oxford remains a dog-friendly destination, welcoming the whole family – including four-legged friends – to take part in the half-term festivities.
